Community Coalition Efforts

HomeCommunity Coalition Efforts

We must all work together toward a common goal of building a safe, healthy, and drug-free community.

REACH Council is a registered member of Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America. A coalition is defined by CADCA as “a formal arrangement for collaboration between groups or sectors of a community, in which each group retains its identity but all agree to work together toward a common goal of building a safe, healthy, and drug-free community.”

Community Coalition Efforts

Coalitions should include the people most affected by the problem, people with influence (both formal and informal), and representation from a myriad of community sectors. A coalition should also be culturally diverse and representative of the community which it serves. Standard community coalition development encourages coalitions to recruit representatives from various community sectors, including:

  • Youth (under 18)
  • Parents
  • Business community
  • Civic and volunteer groups
  • Media
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Religious/fraternal organizations
  • Youth-serving organizations
  • Schools
  • Law enforcement agencies
  • State/local/tribal government agencies with substance abuse expertise
  • Other organizations involved in reducing substance abuse

  • Not to serve or knowingly allow alcohol consumption in their home or on their property.

The SAFE HOMES pledge is a commitment to keep your home safe for the youth of our community. If your child or teen is planning to “hang out” or “sleep over” with friends, check the list! Is the family they are visiting on the list? If not, please encourage them to take the pledge, too!
