REACH Recovery Communities

Recovery Is Possible — and You Don’t Have to Navigate It Alone

REACH Council provides peer recovery support services for youth and young adults ages 13–25 in Ellis, Johnson, and Hill Counties. Services are welcoming, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and guided by each participant’s needs, experiences, and personal vision for recovery and wellness.

Our trained peer support specialists draw on their lived experience and professional training to offer hope, encouragement, practical support, and connection without judgment. We recognize that there are many pathways to recovery. Participants are supported in making informed choices and setting goals that reflect what matters most to them.

Whether someone is considering change, beginning recovery, reconnecting with recovery, or working to maintain their wellness, our team is here to walk alongside them at their own pace.

Individualized Recovery Support

Recovery is personal, and each participant remains at the center of decisions about their support. Peer support specialists collaborate with participants to recognize their strengths, identify needs, and develop an individualized recovery and wellness plan.

Support may include:

  • Identifying personal strengths, values, and goals
  • Building healthy coping, communication, and life skills
  • Recognizing situations that may affect wellness and developing strategies for responding
  • Exploring treatment, behavioral health, and recovery resources
  • Accessing education, employment, housing, transportation, and other community supports
  • Building healthy relationships and supportive connections
  • Practicing self-advocacy and informed decision-making
  • Recognizing progress and adapting goals as needs change
  • Developing strategies to support continued recovery and wellness

Participants have a voice in the services they receive and may choose which goals and resources feel safe, helpful, and appropriate. Peer recovery support complements—but does not replace—professional counseling, medical care, or substance-use treatment.

Peer Support Groups

REACH Council offers peer-led groups where participants can connect with others who may share similar experiences. Groups are designed to foster emotional and physical safety, mutual respect, encouragement, and belonging.

Participants are invited to engage in ways that feel comfortable to them. No one is required to share personal experiences before they are ready. Groups provide opportunities to build supportive relationships, learn from others, practice new skills, and recognize personal strengths.

Recovery-Focused Activities

Recovery includes building a meaningful, connected, and fulfilling life. REACH Council offers substance-free social, recreational, and wellness activities where participants can explore interests, develop skills, strengthen supportive relationships, and have fun in a welcoming environment.

Participation is voluntary, and activities are designed to support connection, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.

Support for Families and Caregivers

Substance use and recovery can affect the entire family. REACH Council offers education, resources, and support to help parents, caregivers, and other supportive individuals better understand substance use, recovery, healthy communication, boundaries, and available community resources.

Family involvement is approached with care and respect for the participant’s voice, privacy, safety, preferences, and applicable consent requirements. Support may include individual guidance, educational groups, resource connections, and family-focused activities.

Flexible, Community-Based Support

We recognize that transportation, schedules, past experiences, and other circumstances can create barriers to seeking support. Services may be provided at REACH Council offices, in schools, at community locations, or through phone, text, and video communication when appropriate.

Our team works to provide a respectful and emotionally safe environment. Participants are not expected to share details about difficult or traumatic experiences to receive support. Peer specialists focus on each person’s strengths, choices, current needs, and goals.

Connect With Peer Support

If you are age 13–25 and live in Ellis, Johnson, or Hill County, you do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Parents, caregivers, professionals, and community partners may also contact us to learn more or make a referral.

Our team can answer questions, explain available options, and help you or someone you care about take the next step when you are ready.
