We host programs that promote positive decision-making in both children and adults.
Our goal is to build strong, connected communities throughout the Ellis County, Texas area. This is why we regularly organize, host, and execute community-based prevention programs. Through these initiatives, we focus on guiding and inspiring the community to become part of the solution and make a difference where they live. We do this by working with the faith community, local businesses, and schools, as well as other organizations and individuals, to increase prevention opportunities and prevent opportunities for substance abuse and mental health.
As part of our community-based prevention programs, we bring members of the community together to identify substance-abuse related problems within our community while also putting together community activities that address these common issues. This happens in a number of ways, whether through presentations at local community groups and schools or supporting local prescription drug take-back events that allow people to properly dispose of expired and unwanted medications. We also facilitate events that educate teens on substance abuse and underage drinking, in addition to educating parents and other adults on mental health and substance abuse topics.
Additionally, our REACH Council’s Youth Recovery Communities Program is a peer recovery support program that helps youth between the ages of 13-21 with substance use disorders. This program provides a variety of non-clinical services and support to youth who fall within this age range.
